FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions we usually asked about Solar

How much government subsidy can I receive?

Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme for residential rooftops, the Central Government provides a direct subsidy of ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system, and up to ₹78,000 for systems of 3 kW and above. As an authorized registered vendor, The Solar Bharat manages the end-to-end portal documentation so the subsidy amount is credited directly to your bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

How much roof space do I need to install a rooftop solar system?

On average, each 1 kW of rooftop solar installation requires approximately 80 to 100 square feet of clear, shadow-free roof area. A typical 3 kW residential setup requires roughly 250 to 300 square feet. Our engineering team conducts an on-site structural and shadow analysis to design the optimal layout for your roof.

What is net metering and how does it reduce my electricity bill?

A net meter is a bi-directional electricity meter installed by your local DISCOM. During peak daylight hours, your solar system powers your home and exports any surplus electricity back to the grid. At night, you draw power from the grid as needed. Your monthly bill reflects only the "net" difference, significantly lowering or entirely offsetting your power expenses.

How long does the complete installation and commissioning process take?

4. How long does the complete installation and commissioning process take?
The physical installation of panels, inverters, and wiring typically takes 2 to 4 days once the site is prepared. The total turnaround time—including DISCOM feasibility approval, net-meter procurement, government inspection, and final grid synchronization—generally takes 3 to 6 weeks, all handled directly by our operations team.

How much maintenance do solar panels require?

Solar panels have no moving parts and require minimal mechanical maintenance. However, regular cleaning is critical, as surface dust and bird droppings can lower power output by 15% to 25%. The Solar Bharat offers dedicated panel management and routine cleaning services to keep your system generating power at peak efficiency year-round.
